What to expect from your visit:
We are here to serve you and make sure all of your concerns have been addressed. Our staff is trained to provide the best medical and nursing care. After you leave, if you have any comments or suggestions please call the Emergency Department Manager.
Registration
Registration obtains the necessary information to begin your personal medical record. Having your identification ready is a big help. Please know we do not refuse emergency or stabilizing treatment based on your ability to pay and the registration process will never interfere with the delivery of your emergency care.
Triage
Triage is a process to help determine the severity of your condition and to make sure that the emergency doctors see patients in order of medical priority. The triage nurse will ask you what medical purpose brings you to the Emergency Department; gather a brief medical history from you; and perform a brief evaluation of your condition. We have great concern for your well-being and general state of comfort. Please let the nurse or admissions team know if we can get something for you to make you more comfortable.
Treatment
Our goal is to have all patients seen by a medical provider quickly. Your length of stay in the emergency department varies depending upon the complexity of your ailment. The average emergency room visit lasts three hours. More time may also be needed to process specialized tests if they are needed.
Diagnostic Tests
Diagnostic tests may include laboratory tests, X-Rays, scans, imaging or other tests that will help your physician decide on the best course of treatment. We offer advanced technology on-site with 24hr lab and radiology services to aid in a prompt diagnosis, so you can get the treatment you need as quickly as possible. We will do our best to keep you informed on timelines and possible delays in obtaining diagnostic results.
Visitors
The treatment space inside the emergency department is limited. Therefore, to better meet the needs of all patients and to ensure their privacy is maintained, relatives and friends are asked to remain in the reception area at first. Parents can accompany children under the age of 18. After the doctor has completed the initial evaluation, one family member or friend may stay with the patient, but must remain at the bedside while inside the treatment area.
Re-Evaluation
The emergency doctor will re-evaluate you once all your test results are available. Based on these results and your condition, you may be discharged from the emergency department with a plan of care, admitted into the hospital, or transferred to another facility for a higher level of care. Your private doctor may be contacted to help in this decision.
Discharge
If you are discharged from the emergency department you will be given care instructions to follow at home. It is very important that you understand and follow these instructions. Before you leave, please make sure all of your questions have been answered.
